Apparently Ranya can hear her horse. Not in words but in feelings and emotions.
She’s also made a bitter enemy out of Blackwolf by getting the better of him when he tried to assault her, by sticking her thumb in his eye.
Did she blind him? I’m not sure yet as I haven’t been back to look. She left him reeling and in pain and didn’t stop running until she reached the safety of the castle tower.
But she’s shoring up trouble for the future. Blackwolf is not the kind of man you want for an enemy.
